Joel Roskind Plans Active Retirement as a Instructor
Although retired from his career as a plastic surgeon, Dr. Joel Roskind remains active in the medical field. In addition to instructing a case management class at Boston University Medical School, Joel Roskind MD will also be providing his services as a consultant in the fields of practice management and facility accreditation.
Dr. Joel Roskind approaches medicine from a multidisciplinary and humanitarian perspective. Joel Roskind MD also served in the U. S. Navy as part of a three-man plastic surgery team, and during that time he traveled to Mexico to do surgery on disadvantaged children with cleft lips and palates.
He has previously instructed at Boston University, the Nassau University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, University of California, San Diego and Cornell Medical School. He is also the former Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor or Surgery at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He served in the U. S. Navy as part of a three-man plastic surgery team, and during that time traveled to Mexico to do surgery on underprivileged children with congenital deformities.
In addition to running a busy plastic surgery practice specializing in body enhancements, Joel Roskind MD also formulated a second specialty in facilities accreditation, eventually becoming an inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF), and is now teaching with clinics to help them achieve certification. He also took a smart interest in practice management and now advises with doctors in the areas of hiring and training faculty, setting up electronic systems, error prevention and patient relations.
Fulfilling the trust that patients put in their physicians has always been a part of Joel Roskinds personal mission as a physician. Through his occupation as a lecturer and adviser, Joel Roskind MD hopes to continue to contribute to the medical profession in a broader and more comprehensive way. When he is not lecturing or consulting, he plans to pursue a personal interest in Judaic studies.
