The Pros and Cons when Buying a New Television

Buying a new flat screen TV is very exciting and there are some details that must be thought through. You will have to make the choice between a Plasma TV, a LED TV or an LCD screen. Make your screen selection based on your personal needs as they all have advantages and disadvantages.

Two different resolution levels of HDTV are currently being manufactured. These two resolutions are 720p and 1080p. When you go to the store you need to check the specifications to know whether the model you are interested in is 720p or 1080p. A model supporting 720p should be labeled as HD Ready and one supporting 1080p as HD Ready 1080p.

The pixel sizes of these two resolutions are 1366 x 768 and 1920 x 1080. Full HD is only displayed on the sets which are classed as 1080p. Full HD is used with gaming systems, Blu-ray players and web content. The lower resolution of 720p is the resolution that the HD content provided by television broadcasters is shown in. Viewers who usually watch the telly will do just fine with a 720p HD Ready set. Choosing a 1080p screen is most suited for gamers or people who watch Blu-ray with a 1080p player.

Another important consideration is your finances as a higher res TV is going to cost you more money. Is is also worth noting that it really depends on the size of the screen you are going to purchase and the viewing distance in your home. If you sit further away from your television for example then you will see no difference in the higher definition set. The more expensive sets of course will have other features which can provide you with a better quality picture.

A Samsung 32 inch LCD TV would be a very popular choice as this is one of the most sought after sizes. Buying a 32 inch LCD display makes sense as an LED screen is much more expensive and you cannot get a Plasma at that size. The smallest Plasma TV’s on offer right now are 37 inches in size.

Depending on how much you have to spend then the 32 inch LCD is the most economical. For those looking for a big TV then for a little over £600 you can get some great Plasma screens as large as 50 inch!
