Oracle SVP Shares Need behind Cloud Computing

Website Cloud Computing Journal recently got an opportunity to interview Oracle Enterprise Manager Product Development Senior Vice President Richard Sarwal wherein the latter expressed the need for dedicated server cloud computing.

During the interview, Sarwal said there are two objectives that will be supported. The first is that cloud computing should be fully enterprise graded which means that factors such as scalability, high performance, availability, reliability and security are met. The second aspect is that customers have the choice to avail of either public or private cloud computing.

Sarwal pointed out during the earlier part of the interview the Oracle took on a pioneering role in making Grid Computing relevant and this undertaking started five years ago with ASM, RAC and Enterprise Manager Grid Control. He added that until now that they are still refining these products to meet to continuing demand by the market for improvement.

When asked if cloud computing is relevant to small, medium or large-sized enterprises, Sarwal said that companies have different needs but stressed that at the end of the day, companies are always looking for faster and cost-effective cloud computing options.

He added that in most cases, larger companies prefer availing of these options in a bid to reduce waiting time for IT departments to process growing number of requests ranging from procuring servers, data servers, installing and configuring servers and many more.

Sarwal will be the keynote speaker in the upcoming SYS-CON’s 4th International Cloud Computing Exp.
